Consumers are being called upon to sign a petition appealing to the European Council to end roaming in the European Union (BEUC members launch Zero Roaming petition). While the European institutions previously seemed to have agreed on abolishing roaming charges at the end of 2015 in the EU, this agreement ultimately has not been supported by some Member States in the Council. Prolongation of roaming charges until 2018 is currently discussed.
